Microsoft has announced the release of .NET Micro Framework version 4.0 as well as the plan to release the majority of the source code under the Apache 2.0 license.

Well the race is on for desktop virtualization market before competitors Microsoft and Citrix Systems counter with their releases.

View 4 features the PCoIP protocol for PC display over IP networks. View 4 can detect the end users network connection, whether it be a local or wide area network, then deliver rich content to the virtualized desktop.

One thing from what I have read so far is delivery of rich content video however not a lot about sound quality & performance.

Lets hope the new release isn’t a smoking gun, I’m feeling confident about the product though and can’t wait to run it on our VDI Wyse clients.

VMware View 4 announced to be available November 19 for desktop virtualization.

February 27, 2009 – Warning to all Firefox users: the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 update, pushed through the Windows Update service to all recent editions of Windows, installs the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant firefox extension without asking your permission. This update adds to Firefox one of the most dangerous vulnerabilities present in all versions of Internet Explorer: the ability for websites to easily and quietly install software on your PC. Since this design flaw is one of the reasons you may’ve originally choosen to abandon IE in favor of a safer browser like Firefox, you may wish to remove this extension immediately. Unfortunately, Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, has taken steps to make the removal of this extension particularly difficult – open the Add-ons window in Firefox, and you’ll notice the Uninstall button next to their extension is grayed out! The software giant released four new ads to promote Internet Explorer 8 starring Lois and Clark’s Dean Cain as a 1960s style ad man- — no doubt inspired by AMC’s Mad Men. So far the new ad campaign is an online-only affair, and uses the tagline ‘Browse Better.’

Greetings All!

Well I just got the email this morning regarding the Dell Latitude 2100 Mobile Computing Station.

The price was a little more than what I expected at around $4,500.00 AUD.

I was thinking more around the High 2′s up to mid 3′s however for your money it has everything integrated such as push image SW updates remotely, power without touching cords and no cord damage over time.

How to clear the Auto-Complete Email Address Cache in Outlook

If you are like me I like to use the auto complete email feature in my To: field in Microsoft Outlook 2003.

Ever wanted to know how to edit that list or take it with you and save it?

If you are not running roaming profiles your list is stuck on that workstation or laptop.

So here are a couple of things you can try in regards to editing and saving your list:

Start typing in the address that shows up incorrectly.

Hit the Down arrow key to select the auto completed address.

Hit the Delete key to delete the auto complete address

The other way is by opening the profile folder and deleting the .nk2 file.

Open up windows explorer, and paste the following into the address bar:

‘%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook” (without quotes)

Delete the Outlook.NK2 file that you find in this folder.

Alternative to deleting the file just copy and paste the file elsewhere for save keeping.

You receive a “Service Unavailable” error message when you browse a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site

We changed our admin’ password which the application pools and websites where using to authenticate, the ‘Services’ logon details do not sync with Active Directory its local machine based.

The website troubleshooting tips wern’t all valid expect for this paragraph and changing “Services” logon information manually:

Use one of the following methods as appropriate to your situation:

a. If Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 is installed on a member server:
1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Computer Management.
2. Expand Local Users and Groups, and then expand Users.
3. Right-click the account that is used by the application pool for the virtual server, and then click Properties.
4. Click the Member of tab.

Restart IIS after these steps and check site in your browser.
