Read on article on brianmadden.com about Microsoft releasing Windows MultiPoint Server 2010 a pretty similar product that Ncomputing currently have.

We are still running 3 Ncomputing devices off a Dell 755 Optiplex and was a big consideration for reception areas of the school, however recently have opted to go Wyse client & VMWare View

Well the race is on for desktop virtualization market before competitors Microsoft and Citrix Systems counter with their releases.

View 4 features the PCoIP protocol for PC display over IP networks. View 4 can detect the end users network connection, whether it be a local or wide area network, then deliver rich content to the virtualized desktop.

One thing from what I have read so far is delivery of rich content video however not a lot about sound quality & performance.

Lets hope the new release isn’t a smoking gun, I’m feeling confident about the product though and can’t wait to run it on our VDI Wyse clients.

VMware View 4 announced to be available November 19 for desktop virtualization.

Some interesting topics brough up regarding thin clients, the Bjorg project sounds pretty cool especially for legacy machines that are starting to show their age, a great idea for possible future proofing the Rudd governments 1 to 1 concept.

What I mean by future proofing is that computers will be bought outright and over time will show their age and no longer be viable as a desktop PC because the demands of new software and wear and tear of computer parts.

I’m note sure what the goverment has in store for down the road but projects like these show some promise.

Greetings all,

I am apologising for the lack of post over the last couple of months.

I have been travelling overseas recently and haven’t had time to do write ups as often as I like.

Over the last month I have been working on some cool projects regarding VMWare ThinApp and View with the current Wyse and Dell FX160 thin clients.

Look forward to wrting up some interesting articles
